Mary, a young girl from England, loved to go on treasure hunts with her family. The seaside cliffs of Lyme Regis, England would reveal fossils buried in mud after storms. Mary and her family would sell their finds to tourists but Mary hoped to find something special. Mary and her brother found an unusual skull that turned out to be an undiscovered dinosaur. Would Mary find more fossils? And would she be recognized as the one who discovered them?

This book was fascinating! I learned about Mary Anning and her quest to find dinosaur bones. Dragon Bones would make a great read-aloud book about paleontology. The pictures catch the eye and there are just the right amount of words on each page. The characters in this book are presumably white.
