Little Roger is afraid of the stormy night. After the storm passes, his mother Rachel takes out into the dark for a walk to the sea, where Roger rediscovers his love for nature, for the beauty in the dark.
Don’t be confused – this is not really a true story of a time in Rachel Carson’s life – it is an amalgam of a couple of different incidents culled from her correspondence and writings. I tis, however, a great look at the mystery and beauty of a walk in the dark – something that is difficult for children raised in the city, with all its light pollution, to understand. It is very gentle and calming.
