Caroline has just moved to a new city with her family. She has not made any new friends and she is lonely. On a visit to the local art museum she sees a bronze statue of a girl about her age, sitting in a rocking chair with a cat on her lap. Caroline feels a connection to the girl in the statue and tells her all her secrets and dreams. One day there is a notice that the statue will be moved. Can Caroline do anything to keep that statue where it is?
Caroline is a cute heroine, resourceful and strong. This is a book that shows that one person can make a difference and be a force for good. The illustrations are beautifully done, with so much feeling and insight. I think if this book is book talked up to students they will be very likely to want to read it.
