BUYING ADVISORY: GIFT - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Interesting facts about Egyptian tombs are made accessible through a unique blend of facts and alternate storylines and drawings that the reader does himself.
I haven’t seen a book quite like this one. I’m not sure how to recommend it for a library, because it’s more of a workbook. While the facts are great and the presentation is fun, there is an activity on almost every page, some of which involve cutting and poking holes and folding, so I’m not sure this book would be returned in pristine shape. It’s really meant to be interactive. There is also the option of choosing your own ending, since you can read it as a pharaoh, an archaeologist, or a pyramid worker, so it’s not linear. I would totally buy this for kid interested in pyramids, but it’s sort of a one-time use. But if you’re looking to totally immerse someone in a book, this is it.
