Bear is hibernating when he realizes
that someone stole all of his food, so he goes outside in the snow to play.
There he meets a smart Rabbit who teaches him a bit about making snowmen and
offers his some old carrots. He learns that Rabbit has some very bad habits. One
day Bear sees Rabbit being chased by a wolf and save him. That is a turning
point for Rabbit and Bear and their friendship evolves from there.
This book is fully illustrated, with
adorable and creative illustrations, which are so great.
But I didn’t enjoy the plot as much
with the good natured bear being taken advantage of and looked down upon by the
smarter and surlier rabbit. Another thing is that the main joke in this book is
about poop. I am a big fan of some silly humor like this, but something about
it just was too gross for me. I think it was that Rabbit ate his own poop –by choice,
on purpose. Then it was brought up over and over again. I think there are
better options for chapter books but I would love to see more by this
illustrator.
