Eily is a young, white girl that lives with her father on the Irish coast near the enchanted isle of Lisnashee. Eily's father is a Fog Catcher. Every year he must make the sea journey to the island of Lisnashee to collect fairy water. The fairy water protects the people of his town from the fairies. After he leaves, Eily discovers that he has left behind his protective charm. Eily takes her own boat to go after her father and rescue him.
Marks has beautiful watercolor illustrations. Unfortunately, I had to read the story several times before I understood it. I am concerned that the story would be difficult for children to understand.
