One cold day, Granny and Bean took a walk on the beach. They let the waves reach their boots, and they listened to the birds. They happily walked through the wind, even though it blew their hats off and made their cheeks red and their hair drippy. They were headed to something wonderful!
AJ and I loved this book. It reminded both of us of a trip we took together to the beach. Even though it was a different season, we had a similar experience. Hesse's text is poetic, while the illustrations are perfect, expressive, and realistic - we could feel the cold wind and the moist air. We both loved Granny and Bean very much!
