The lille boy and his big sister are playing a game - a long game of hide and seek as they slowly travel to the line - where if they can cross they can win the game.
The children and others wear colorful animal masks, not exposing their faces until almost the very end, or when the boy realizes that they are not really playing a game. Meza brings the plight of refugees all over the world into focus - the fear, the danger, the long periods of uncertainty. Meza includes words from other young immigrants in her back matter and a bit about her own journey.
