Charlie, a bear cub, visits her grandpa, Papa Jo, a big bear, and asks him about his hourglass. He tells her that it reminds him to take his time. She doesn't really understand his answer. Instead of going out to eat, they have fun cooking soup. Instead of driving into town, they enjoy the flowers and walk. Papa Jo even rows Charlie to an island where he has built a swing, and she explores. When they arrive home, they enjoy the sunset. Charlie see's that time has drained from the hourglass. Does she understand Papa Jo's answer now?
Turcotte has captured the joy of taking time to enjoy life in this adorable story. I was especially captivated by the gorgeous, warm, relaxing colors and illustrations.
