A young girl named Robin moves to a new city and is upset to find that everything is gray; the buildings, the cars the people's clothing. She finds some spots of color in the city here and there, a friend who likes color, neighbors who play music in their apartment, and a library with a secret back room full of colorful books. Robin and her friend are determined to bring color back to the city, but it might be dangerous.
Kuhlmann’s illustrations are beautiful. The message about the importance of color is great. The pages with text contain several paragraphs each. Although this is a picture book, the text is geared to upper elementary grades.
