Marsha is Magnetic by Beth Ferry and Lorena Alvarez - ADVISABLE

Marsha is Magnetic by Beth Ferry, illustrated by Lorena Alvarez. PICTURE BOOK. HMH Books, 2021. $18. 9780544735842

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3), EL - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: SEVERAL

Marsha has a problem: she has no idea who to invite to her birthday party. Making friends at school has her stumped. Since she is a scientist, she decides there is only one way to find a solution. She must use the scientific method!

I loved Marsha's quirky character in Ferry’s cute STEAM book. This would be a fun way to introduce the scientific method in a classroom. I liked that Marsha was unapologetically herself.

Marsha is white, her classmates are illustrated with a variety of ethnicities.
