A boy loves collecting maps, reading maps, and making his own maps.  A girl comes to his treehouse and asks him to make her map of a place where she can zip like a dragonfly.  It smells like my birthday and the first day of school and a Tuesday all at once.  Confused by her request they decide to go on an adventure together to find such a place.

Allen has created  a perfect way to introduce a map unit or a map activity as a teacher.  The illustrations are fun.  They are done with colored pencil, but the boy’s maps look more like he used crayons. It's fun to see the difference on the different pages.

Both characters are caucasian.
