Poppy's Best Babies by Susan Eaddy - ESSENTIAL

Poppy's Best Babies by Susan Eaddy, illustrated by Rosalinde Bonnet PICTURE BOOK Charlesbridge 2018 $16.00 1580897703

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ESSENTIAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Poppy is back! She is so excited to tell everyone that she has brand new twin sisters and that her grandmother GeeGee is coming for a visit. Of course Petunia can't wait to inform Poppy that GeeGee will ignore her because all her attention will be on the twins. And, it seems Petunia is right. Every time Poppy gets time alone with her, the babies call Gee Gee away. Now, the best babies ever are the worst, and Poppy is angry.

There are a lot of books about children who feel left out when a new baby is born - this is one of my favorites. The illustrations are delicious - Bonnet's pictures tell the story, too. I loved the resolution. This book would make a great gift to a new big brother or sister, or would make a good conversation starter for talking about jealousy or sibling rivalry.
