Oraib lives in the Balata refugee camp near the city of Nablus. She and her siblings were born there. Oraib loves olives and helps her mother gather and process them in the camp. They were forced from their home by the coast of Palestine as others came in to take their land. One day, when she and her mother came home from the olive fields, people in the camp are packing up and leaving. The war has come close to their camp and they must move again.
Oraib is Aya Ghanameh's grandmother. This is her story of living as a Palestinian refugee. The author's end note provides greater detail about the Palestinian issue. Family photos are shared at the end of the book. Aya creates a desire in the reader to learn more about this subject.
