Cassi is a little girl who helps a swift after it has injured it’s wing. When she releases the swift into the air, and the bird takes flight, the story follows the bird and describes all the many ways the wind has shaped the earth. Then the swift lands eight thousand miles away where a little boy watches it nest and hatch baby swifts who grow strong and then make their journey back to Cassi.
The illustrations are appealing with bright and attractive colors. I loved the imagination of shapes that the wind created with the water and clouds. A sense of wonder around the concept of wind is felt with the illustrations alone. The story line is all over the place and will be confusing to younger readers, which is sad because the illustrations are over the top gorgeous.
