BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3), EL - ESSENTIAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Fog shrouds everything, dampens sounds, puts even near objects out of focus, softens the world, changes it. Fog is water in the air and moisture everywhere. The book is full of beautiful photographs of landscapes, trees and animals shrouded in fog. Fog seems to hold mysteries all its own.
I used to tell my students that fog was just a cloud afraid of heights. Sayre explains fog, the science behind it and the wonder of it.
The book brought back my memories of being on the tundra in Norway, as a child, wandering through fog, marveling at how different and quiet everything was when shrouded in fog. Known object became objects of fairy tales and folk tales, trolls and huldre, magical and ghostly. I loved this book, the photographs and the the great explanations at the end. Enjoy!
