Banksy Graffitied Walls and Wasn't Sorry by Fausto Gilberti - ADVISABLE

Banksy Graffitied Walls and Wasn't Sorry
by Fausto Gilberti.
PICTURE BOOK NON-FICTION. Phaidon, 2021. $18. 9781838662608

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Banksy is a most unusual artist, their medium is graffiti, and we don't know for sure who they are! They paint art about war, pollution, poverty, and rats. They even painted on cows and sheep. Their art is funny and dark; Banksy is also a prankster, making their own art installation in a famous museum. Because Banksy is so unpredictable and their art is so current, it makes the news and people talk about it.

I love this series! Banksy is represented as a hooded figure with a spray paint can. Mostly black and white illustrations (with the occasional splash of red) capture the story perfectly A little bit wordy for a small picture book, but when I read it with my grand daughter, she was engaged and ask questions about Banksy, like had I ever seen any of their art (Yes, in Park City, Utah) and does Banksy only paint in black and white?
