BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - NOT RECOMMENDED
When Carrie gets a delivery from the florist, she carefully reads the watering instructions. It says to DOWSE. Wait - that word is on one of the mysterious boxes in the closet. Inside the box is a pair of metal L-shaped rods and a rhyme explaining how they work. Grandma's note says dowsing means more than getting wet, it means finding treasure without clues. So, Carrie looks for gold, water and treasure with the dowsing rods.
The front matter says the imprint is Look Under Rocks - STEM books for FUN. I don't think dowsing rods are science! Also, the illustrations are so strange - lots of hidden faces and unnatural postures.
Book 4 in a series, of which I have been unable to find books 1-3. I feel like I'm missing a bunch of story set up. Perhaps Grandma knows magic? Hard to recommend without the rest of the series, and the illustrations are odd.
