There is much wildlife to be found around a small pond. The kingfisher is ON a cat tail, and then dives OFF to try to catch a fish. The stickleback fish is IN his nest and comes OUT to avoid an attack. A Nymph is LOW on pond weeds until it sheds its skin and becomes a dragonfly where it flies HIGH in the skies. In the pond, Frog lays her eggs. Tadpoles hatch that are SMALL and become BIG frogs. In the LIGHT we see a small hole where the Vole hides in the DARK.  

In The Pond is a cute book with rhyming text and some first words to see and say. The book is made up of five different nature stories in a single pond. I really enjoyed the double-layer flaps on each page telling the story of that animal. The flaps and the simple words on the flaps make the book fun and interactive for small children.
