Sundays spent at Grandpa’s house meant the opportunity to sit at the foot of his bed and listen to Grandpa’s life stories.  “Do you see my face?” he asked me.  “Every line on my skin tells the story of my life.”  Grandpa would then tell stories of the time he spent at sea and on different continents.  Whether telling adventures on sea or on land, Grandpa loved sharing his life and his travels with his grandson.

Not only is Old Man of the Sea a sweet story about a grandson’s relationship with his grandfather, it is also educational as the grandfather shares tales from around the world.  Fun and detailed maps of several continents can be explored and discussed.  In addition to land travels, ocean life is also examined.
