Caveboy and Cavegirl share the same birthday. Not only were they born on the same day in
caves next to each other, they grew to become best of friends. They loved to celebrate their birthdays together
every year. Regular days together
included hide-and-seek, searching for shapes in the clouds, and racing with
their pets. Caveboy loved rocks. Cavegirl loved tools. As their birthdays soon approached, each
wanted to buy the other person the perfect gift. Love and selflessness creates not only in a
new dilemma, but eventually working together the two friends solve the problem
with exceptional results.
Cavekid
Birthday is a wonderful book
about friends, selflessness, and problem solving. Breisacher and Garrigue bring us a beautifully
illustrated and perfectly told tale that will be a springboard for laughter and
healthy discussions in both classrooms and homes alike. We loved that they were
named “Caveboy” and “Cavegirl” instead of given specific names. We also enjoyed the “caveman” vocabulary, “Make
trade? Have nothing to trade.”
