When the first snow starts to fall, it's like a fairy tale for all." Stefan and Agnes are delighted by the first snow of winter. They explore and play, imagine and admire, shovel and create. Then with a little imagination and first-snow magic, their snow bear creation carries them on a journey "to where the ocean freezes" before bringing them back to their snow-covered garden where they experience more "fairy tale for all" magic.
The beautiful illustrations are surprisingly colorful for a book about the first snow fall. The book is longer than standard picture books and it's quite wordy, which may not make this an ideal choice for readers or listeners with short attention spans. The text is sometimes difficult to read when it sits atop more the textured and colorful illustrations. The story has been translated from Czech to English, and the words don't always seem to flow comfortably. It's a beautiful book though, and a sweet, imaginative story.
