A young girl goes out exploring her world. She is wishing someone were with her. She enjoys the forest, the meadow, the insects, the forest animals and plants, and the beach all by herself. Things would be better if someone were with her.
Stinson tells this story in beautiful prose. Her narration could help a child feel joy in nature or help a child understand that it is all right for them to be happy when a loved one is not near. McKibbin's colorful illustrations enhance the storytelling. The little girl in the story has olive skin.
