BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3), EL - ESSENTIAL
APPEALS TO: SEVERAL
Plants have evolved for millions of years. Many have gained superpowers to survive. The superpowers include: mobility, seeds, roots, teamwork, trunks, mimicry, regeneration, speed, protection, longevity, substances, fruit, resilience, flowers, intelligence, and leaves. Most super plants have more than one super power. Some of these super plants, include: the coastal redwoods, Venus flytrap, oleander, skeleton flower, strangler fig, welwitshcia and rootless duckweed.
Marino created an essential book for elementary readers. Not only is the information encyclopedic, but she included icons for each super power which allows for quick categorizing and comprehension. Pulido's illustrations are bright and comprehensive also. This book motivates readers to want to know more about the plant world.
