A little fish gets lost and heads towards the dark ocean floor. Then it spies a little light and finds its way back to the surface.
Fong works hard to create a dreamy, lush backdrop to illustrate her life lesson metaphor. However, she has the little fish escaping the hooks of the fishers above it and coming back to the possible danger of being caught by those same fishers. I am perhaps being picky - the illustrations really are lovely - but thinking these things through matter.
