After Nellie Bly set off on a trip around the world in 1889, Elizabeth Bisland’s editor contacted her and Elizabeth set off in the other direction only 12 hours later. Nellie didn’t even learn about Elizabeth until she reached Hong Kong, Then, someone in Paris lied to Elizabeth and in the end she arrived home almost a week after Nellie. But both women helped women the world over make great strides towards being able to follow their hearts.
An entertaining look at the first daredevil female reporters back at the run of another century. A great way to help students see that 120 years is not caveman days – it would be fun to plan a class around the world adventure for geography lessons!
