Patience and Fortitude, the lions who guard the steps of the New York Public Library are upset when they find the shelves of the children’s area empty during their nightly prowl through the library. They race through the streets of the City to consult with the wise man in Central Park.
Another ode to New York City – it will mostly be appreciated by those who live there or who have visited. Funk does a great job of writing in rhyme without become sing-songy or awkward phrasing. Lewis’s illustrations contain many of NYC’s iconic spaces and buildings.
