9yo Jessica's pet goat is missing. When sisters Hildegurp, Glubbifer and Yuckmina arrive in town and open a pet store, Jessica decieds they are the perfect people to help her out. But as they are heading out in search of the goat they find an empty casserole dish and a mysterious note on the porch. So Jessica and sisters set out to follow the clues and look for the goat. Jessica does her best to show them around town and help them fit in. Humorous misunderstandings and magic follow the sisters wherever they go.

Smith’s comedic story with fun wordplay is about acceptance and kindness. The illustrations are great and add interest. This quick read would be great for a reluctant reader. There is even a recipe at the back for Hurlyburly Soup.
