AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Folklore and mythology about the mysterious deep from all around the world. The book, divided into six sections, explores mythical seas, creatures, seafarers, weather, landscapes, and tales of sea monsters and oceanic dangers.
Lots of fun information about different folktales around the world about oceans. I appreciated the global perspective, as it didn’t focus solely on European stories, so if you have a student that is obsessed with Greek/Roman mythology, this could be a nice text to push them into other cultures and stories. I could see it being used as supplemental materials for a mythology unit at any grade level.
