We have given names to groups of animals. Some of the names are unusual like: leap, prickle, raft, and pandemonium. The number of animals starts with 1 and moves to 12. Each animal group enjoys each other's company as they play. A key lists which animals are threatened, vulnerable, or endangered. An Author's note includes a conservation website.
Wenzel's happy animal characters will delight any child and parent. Not only that, but the children will learn the terms given for groups of each animal. The bright, playful illustrations are page turners. While Wenzel rhymes most of the pages, there are a few pages without good rhyme, which gives reason for pause. The afterword and glossary provide added light to the book.
