Trigger Warning: This book contains writing about domestic violence. A sensitively written book, with lovely accompanying illustrations, that tells the story of a young girl’s experience with domestic violence. When her mother meets a new friend that moves in and brings fear and pain with him, the young girl chooses to view him not as a person, but as the monster that he is. A heartbreaking, but important, read that does end on a note of hope. Young readers should not read this book on their own.
