Told with just a few words in large print on each page, alternating between an unseen narrator on the one hand and dialogue in speech bubbles on the other, Nat the Cat builds a snack for himself but then Pat the Rat shows up and wants Nat to share.
The initial reluctance to share will feel familiar to young readers, while the resolution will surprise and delight them. The simplicity of the text in such a clever, entertaining story is a rare combination and I would snatch this one up (as well as the other Nat the Cat stories) for my earliest readers.
