The Louvre, a beautiful art museum in Paris needed an entrance makeover. I.M. Pei, a well known architect, was up to the task. He had beautiful ideas, many based on his childhood in China, and decided to make a glass pyramid as the new entrance to the Louvre. But the people of Paris were unhappy, and I.M. Pei's project might not be completed after all.
Such a well-told and beautifully illustrated story! I remember when this was happening in the late 80's and am so glad to see it had a happy ending. A nice nice way to show children that even famous artists sometimes have trouble being appreciated. Khoa Le's illustrations are realistic and clever - I liked all the ways they showed Pei's ideas formulating. I.M. Pei is Chinese American, the Louvre is French.
