Each child in a very young school class picks a different seed to grow in a pot at school. They draw pictures to predict what type of plant will grow. One young boy picks a shiny curved green seed and names it Bean. He predicts a huge bean plant. The class waters and waits day after day. Everyone's seeds start to sprout and grow except for Bean. In fact, Bean never grows. The young boy is very upset and vows that he will never grow anything again. But something changes his mind.
Beansprout is about learning how to deal with disappointment, and being open to trying something hard again. Sarah Reul 's sweet illustrations are cute, colorful, and full of emotion.
