Papilio emerges from her egg and is very hungry. While eating her leaf, she falls to the ground. A mouse lifts her up to eat a strawberry. When she is full, she forms a chrysalis. While she is in this stage, she is oblivious to the birds that try to eat her and the mouse that saves her. When she emerges as a butterfly, there are still dangers to avoid. Will she ever learn to believe in herself and become a butterfly?

Papilio is about growing up, believing in yourself, making friends and learning to fly. The tale is told in three parts by three different authors and friends who each illustrated their own part. I think it all works nicely together.
