A young girl is at the bottom of the ocean searching for a beautiful pearl, but a shark wants her for a snack. How can she convince the shark that there are better snacks to be found?
Is it just me - feeling a little weird that the girl keeps pointing out other creatures for the shark to eat? Or that the shark doesn’t seem to know what is safe and delicious for him to eat? Scott’s illustrations are so bright and fun and Bernstrom has written the shark antics in such broad comic strokes, I will have to turn off my adult brain and enjoy the child-like fun.
The girl is Black.
