In 1941, Maria was in Peru when a friend showed her aerial photos of the Nazca Desert, with the faint lines that were impossible to see at ground level, and were only very faint in the photos. Over the rest of her lifetime Maria swept the lines clean by hand and defended them vociferously from farmers who wanted to flood that part of the desert to grow cotton.
Whether studying art, Peru, or ancient mysteries, Lady of the Lines is a great fit. Also a good way to show how one ordinary person has the ability to do great things. Lots of photos of the Lines are available online now. No need to drive to Peru!
