Mel may only be a little bird, but she is sure that today is the day she is going to fly. When Mama is away, she takes her chance. As she falls, and falls, and falls, the other denizens of the tree try to stop her. I’m not going to spoil what happens when she reaches the bottom. Tabor’s illustrations are as delightful as the story - worthy of framing.
